Out There sits in a Mecca for marine and outdoor recreational adventures. Kick back, chillax, get in some serious hammock time or beach-comb over 2000 feet of shoreline. Once you’re on Coast Time, you can always go hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, snorkelling or take a boat tour with experienced local guides, or not.
Black Dave Cruise
Free - we greet all our guests at the Government Dock in Egmont on our classic West Coast wooden boat. Then kick back and enjoy the ride, a leisurely 30 minute cruise over to the island. Accommodation prices include 1 return boat ride to and from the island. Additional trips, additional charges.
Snorkel The Bay
Free - snorkelling equipment is available for our guests to explore life beneath the ocean in the peaceful, calm, protected waters of our bay.
Ruby Lake Break
Free - Be sure to make time for a refreshing dip in stunning Ruby Lake on your way home. Egmont's own Waugh Lake is another fantastic local watering hole.
Swim in the Bioluminescence
Free - Wait wha?? Oh yessss! On dark, moonless nights the magic begins. The whole ocean comes alive with organisms glowing like fire flies. Watch from the dock, grab a board and watch the lights drip off your paddle, or better still jump right in and have your mind officially blown!
Kayak or Stand Up Paddle Board
$20 per person. We have paddleboards and kayaks available for you to explore Nelson Island's coves and bays that lead to hidden hiking trails, or visit the seal colony at Lone Tree Island. Try out an SUP session in the protected water of the bay. Safety equipment included.
High Tides Water Taxi
If you need to get back and forth from the island into Egmont, the local water taxi, High Tides will ferry you back and forth for $100 each way. They also offer boat tours of the area, including the world famous Skookumchuck Tidal Rapids.
2 - Tide Tours
Fishing charters or pleasure cruises of the local inlets and sights with local tour operator 2-Tide Tours. Take a trip up to Hotham Sound to see the one of BC’s highest free standing falls drop 1,450 feet from the lake into the ocean. Best viewed in Spring or early Summer depending upon rainfall levels. They will pick up and drop off at our dock.
Princess Louisa Falls Tour
$149 per person: start or end your trip Out There with a 5 hour tour of the sublime Jervis Inlet and Chatterbox falls with Sunshine Coast Tours. They pick up and drop off at the Backeddy Marina in Egmont, or right off our private dock.
Hike “The Skook”
Free - An easy 4km hike from Egmont through stunning old growth forest will take you to viewing points to watch thrill seeking kayakers surf the Skookumchuck Rapids. The flood tide brings on of the largest standing waves in North America, whilst the ebb tide brings spectacular whirlpools. Check out the best viewing times.
